Cornelius,

You are a brave man and I thank you for talking to Rich. I hope that is heart
is in it for promotion more EVs on the road. We are however dealing with a
news paper here. Some papers try to mix it up and get people both angry and
confused so that they can continue to read follow up articles (and buy more
papers). I realize that Rich could be reading this post and certainly hope that
he
understands that we choose to build these cars for many reasons.

Many of us have the intestinal fortitude to follow through with our personal
and EXPEN$IVE EV commitments. I think that the common denominator for all of
us (that either dream of buying, plan on building or already own an EV) is that
we want the freedom of not buying our energy from any one type of monopoly.
Most of us are already mad as a hatter about the cost of gas and we plug our
nooses when filling our gas tanks like a junkies copping the next mobile buzz.
It is also obvious that Detroit has failed to deliver the EVs that we need so
we will just have to do it ourselves.

I am just a neophyte at this stage with my EV plans however I am no stranger
to making commitments. Four years ago I built a great big house (about 6000
sqft under roof) for my dear wife and precious kids. Oh yeah, and my electric
bill averages $85 per month and I took on a second job during construction so
that the house would have no mortgage when it was done.

The EV that I plan to build will also be BIG enough to carry a driver and six
passengers. I will use my old Chevy Lumina APV (van) that already has 165,000
miles on it. Most of the body is fiberglass and is in great shape. The
clearance under the flat floor board has plenty of space for batteries. The
space
under the hood and forward of the firewall will even have enough room for a
small (range extending) generator. You know what it takes to follow through
with
this EV commitment and I hope that our FLEAA network will help keep me (and
everyone in it) stay focused and true to our words.

Sincerely,

John Batchelder PE
