John, Do you have time to send me a link or 2 on the Poulsen site with a few
paragraphs that could interest EV wannabes in that technology? On the Electric
Vehicle Inititative we want to introduce people to lots of different EVs &
PHEVs and EV technolgies that don't fall under either of those categories. What
fits one person may not fit the next person.
Thanks, John. Fran

WHM's

  Hi John,

Since my earlier reply I have tracked down the Electric Wheel retrofit to
Bridgeport Magnetics,
One of the executives is starting a new venture producing an Electric Wheel
retrofit kit, which will bolt-on to the rear wheels of a standard vehicle and
provide EV propulsion.

   http://www.alphacore.com/

Following the link to Poulson Hybrid, you will find a description of the
conversion kit and cost estimates. Note that this is a simple propulsion
system, and does not provide for regenerative braking, but is a great starting
point for further development.

The conversion has been entered in the X Prize competition along with many
others.

There is a similar retrofit kit, and perhaps a EV based on the E Wheel
platform coming out of New Zealand. The country has a very far sighted plan to
create an EV as a national standard, to reduce pollution and operating
expense. They plan to tie in with solar and wind power electrical power
generation.

There is a movement to form a consortium to produce an EV based on the
Waikato University design in New Zealand, Australia and the UK. As you probably
know, MIRA and PML Flightlink (both in UK)have been prototyping EV's based on
Electric Wheels for years, but have never committed to production. It remains
to be seen if the consortium ever happens.

Meanwhile the Poulson Hybrid is to become available this month or so, and
looks like a very promising and affordable approach.

Perhaps we can organize a "bulk buy" and set up a mini production line here
in Florida to coordinate several conversions for interested FLEAA and other
people
