That is a great idea.  I have been thinking somewhat along thoselines.  What 
would be necessary would be to find a donor car andspecifications that many 
people would like to own.  As an example: Chevy S-10 65mph 50 mile range.  The 
group designs the conversionspecifying the parts and methodology and then it 
becomes a simple process for anyonewith the desire.  I have been interested in 
alternative fuel for aboutseven years.  While an electric vehicle was initially 
my first choice Iultimately did a diesel to veggie oil conversion.  I would 
still liketo convert a car to electric but the learning and design process 
willprobably take me a year.  It would be wonderful to be able to purchasea 
specific vehicle and do a group conversion and have the vehicledriveable in a 
few weeks.  Rather than pulling my hair out trying tofigure out the multitude 
of problems, I could have a drivable car andthen spend my thinking effort 
helping to improve the initial design.

This is a project that I would like to help and participate,
