Firstly a bit of context ... I'm not a developer so I'm tyring to use OOTB
features of MOSS 2007 to build a company intranet for knowledge sharing and
collaboration. This is the first time I've used MOSS ... the good bit is that I
don't need to un-learn previous versions.

I'm running into all sorts of issues, so let me pose just the couple of things
I'm trying to crack at the moment -

1 - I want to generate 'context driven' metadata lists when uploading a
document - eg if choice 'A' is chosen in the first metadata field, the user
only gets choices A-1 to A-n in the next field ... if A-4 is chosen in the
second field, then only choices A-4-1 to A-4-n are presented in the third
field. I'm able to create Lists with these relationships represented - eg a
Level 1 list + a Level 2 list with a column containg related Level 1 values for
each item + a Level 3 list with a column of related Level 2 values for each
item. How can I get this to drive metadata selection in the 'Edit Item' page
that gets displayed when and item is uploaded to a document library.

2 - I want a document library that is purely for reference items - ie Upload
without any Owner or document control + Open Read-only (or better still just
Copy To) so that an item can be saved to an external location. I've tried
giving Read Only permission to all users / groups for the Library and in fact
documents are flagged as read-only when opened in Word, but changes still get
saved back to MOSS.

And one other little frustration ... the new 'Upload Multiple Documents'
feature doesn't allow metadata to be selected and applied to every document
uploaded. Does anyone have a solution for that?

Thanks in anticipation,
