We had that problem and we found out it can happen due to the following two reasons:
1. Corrupt file 2. So, we tried restoring a test site from a backup, and then systematically removing content, but the link never works again. A look at the SQL Server trace reveals that the last query that is attempted is performed twice, hinting at some sort of retry. Running the same query from SQL Server Console succeeds without issue. Anybody have any ideas? We do have a number of sub-sites, which have sub-sites etc. The URLs to the sites are getting quite long. Could we simply be running out of space in a variable?
