I'd suggest you use a free subdomain. It's possible to set it uop so your
external IP can be linked to a subdomain.

Hen you can put the host header in IIS, and also in the alternte access mapping

Cheers

Craig

Tried doing the below example for the internal ip i.e.

Internal URL                            ZONE
Public URL Zone

http://10.12.232.60                    Default
  http://dmzsharepoint

The reason why i need to be able to do this via ip is so register this with a
website i can't use the name to register i need to use the external IP.

<javascript:__doPostBack('ctl00$PlaceHolderMain$DgItems','Sort$ZoneOrdinal')>

<javascript:__doPostBack('ctl00$PlaceHolderMain$DgItems','Sort$OutboundUrl')>

I think the best thing is to setup an additional domain name. Get your ISP to
setup a sub domain; it should be part of your contract.

You can then map that to your server.

Create an alternate mapping to this domain name.

I setup a couple when I last did it with the ISP, i.e. extranet.dddd.com and
server.dddd.com

Cheers

Craig

Have a look at Alternate access mappings in Central Administration -->
Operations --> Global Configuration.

This will allow the site to be access with multiple domain names, so you can
add an extra domain name (if you have an external domain name you can use) for
external access.

Yes but i need to expose this for a demo and need the ip to forward to. Also
i can only access via the name if i do the hosts hack which i can't do for
external users.

Don't access it via IP, access it via the Name always.

Add the hostname to your DNS so you don't need to add host file entries to
every machine.

Subject: [OzMOSS] Issues when accessing site.

Hey all,

I've got the following issue whenever I attempt to connect to my SharePoint
site from outside my dmz I get the Under Construction page using the ip. can
correct this per machine by editing the windows/system32/hosts file to include
the name and ip i.e. dmzsharepoint 10.12.232.60.

Although when I attempt to access on the server it's self via the name it works
but via IP does not work get the under construction page. Any ideas? my
SharePoint site is on port 80 by the way.

Someone said should use a stsadmin command?
