Bibhakar, Thought i will post the result of our conversation earlier.

Accessing the site at http://..:6192 will display page not found, as there is no site collection configured at that path. and its the shared services admin site. To access you need to use Central admin->shared services admin and select the url. or type in the url as http://..:6192/ssp/admin. to access the site.

Thanks Zakir.

I can use host headers - which will be my last option for now.

I am creating a vpc image standalone dev SharePoint server. I wanted to use a different port so that I can access the SharePoint site and SQL reporting services at the same time.

I encounter the following error while browsing the site created during the installation process automatically.

[cid:[email protected]]

Any thoughts are much appreciated.

Bibhakar Saran

If you are using the same port for more than one application, Use host

headers.

again if you are on a farm environment then DNS entry.

Also, you could look at Alternate Access Mapping.

Hi,

I am having security issue with creating SharePoint application site.

When I create application using the "Central Administration"

|"Application Management" create new application option. The site is

 created successfully.

Note: I am using "Network Service" account for service identity and

NTLM authentication, anonymous user is not allowed.

This is also used for the default SharePoint site.

The problem is that it uses port 80 and hence the default website is stopped.

I am trying to create another site so that I can reanimate the

default website.

What needs to be dome to fix it?

Furthermore, simply changing the port on the default site doesn't

work. Which security setting it is actually looking at that needs to

 be modified?
