Hi Justin

I checked the site for closed webparts and found none. The site uses the menu
controls in a number of places and has lots of sub menus. I encountered this
error when trying to add another menu control.

thanks
anand

Hi Anand,

Do you really have 200 controls on the form? As this may be related to the
number of closed web parts on the form. When a user removes a web part from
the form by clicking the little cross on the web part, SharePoint does not
actually delete the web part but closes it. If you put the form into edit mode
then click "Add WebPart" -> Click on the "Advanced Web Part Gallery and
Options" link you will see a link "Closed Web Parts (11)". This gives you the
number of web parts that have been closed on the page. This number can be
excessively high in a development environment when developing custom web parts
and using stsadm to install the web part after making modifications.

SharePoint has to make a trip to the database for each of these closed web
parts, thus taking up resources and can lead to performance degrading on a
production server. Not sure if this relates to your problem, but may be worth
looking into.

Subject: [OzMOSS] Site Customisation!!!

Hi All

I am getting the following error when adding ASP.NET controls. Is there a way
to increase the limit?

An error occurred during the processing of
/ssus/ohs/_catalogs/masterpage/default.master. This page allows a limit of 200
controls, and that limit has been exceeded.

Troubleshoot issues with Windows SharePoint Services.

regards
