Hi Marten, I wrote a simple batch file to help with deploying/retracting solutions. It's helped me out significantly. Because I am SUPER lazy, I've also made two other batch files called Go.cmd and Stop.cmd, which simply call Install.cmd or Uninstall.cmd with parameters to install the solution on my local machine for testing. Each time I want to rebuild, I just run Stop, then Build in Visual Studio and then run Go. It takes about 10-15 seconds to get the solution deployed. These files are saved in the same folder where the .sln is stored. To make this even easier, put a external command on your tools menu called, "Solution Command Prompt", using command = c:\Windows\System32\cmd.exe and Arguments = /K cd $(SolutionDir) Cheers,

Upgrading a solution does not update the database entries. That is done by activating and deactivating features only. A solution is not deploying to a site. How are you doing that? Page Layout is in masterpage gallery. When it is not customized, it points to the updated version on the file system, where it has been deployed from. 2. To Site Collection Images on a sharepoint publishing site. ----- Original Message ----- From: Ishai Sagi <mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED]> To: [email protected] Sent: Thursday, July 10, 2008 3:35 PM Subject: RE: [OzMOSS] Features updating... Marten, 1. Page Layouts are pointing to the file system? What do you mean? It sounds from what you say that they are in the master pages library, which is not in the file system. 2. Where are you deploying that gif to? A Sharepoint site or the file system? From: [EMAIL PROTECTED] [mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED] On Behalf Of Marten Ataalla Sent: Thursday, 10 July 2008 15:24 PM To: [email protected] Subject: [OzMOSS] Features updating... Hey devs, I am creating a few features to deploy the following through a solution: * ContentTypes * Images * XSL, CSS, etc * MasterPages * PageLayouts * ListTemplates * ContentTypeBindings I've noticed that updates are simply not happening. I understand the issue with customization, but nothing is customized. e.g when I deploy a solution with an image say logo.gif, that logo.gif stays the same no matter how many versions of the solution i redeploy with different logo.gif s. PageLayouts seem to update fine as they are pointing to the file system (the date modified in the masterpages library is the initial deployment date though, which is annoying). I've tried: 1. Updating the version numbers of the features 2. running stsadm -o UpgradeSolution instead of retracting, deleting, adding and redeploying the solution Any ideas?
