Hello all,
I too think think the server proxy wont fix the problem because the server proxy is only for caching version control files. In fact the TFS proxy is only used when a user performs 'GetLatestVersion'. For all other tasks like file uploads and meta data exchange the users hits the TFS server itself. So I would assume there still needs to be an open connection from the Team Explorer to the TFS itself.
But what Peter said about configuring multiple servers in the proxy.config is correct. This just allows a proxy server to cache version control data from multiple TFS application servers.

Nice idea Peter, I hadn't considered using the proxy in that way. However I suspect it won't work (happy to be proven wrong though). The reason is that the proxy is configured independently of the TFS server that you connect to. You still have to connect to two individual team projects, the proxy is just used to intercept requests and speed up responses.

Assuming you've got a license for TFS: a Team Foundation Server Proxy might do something in that respect. I haven't tried it myself and only know as much as the documentation for the proxy.config file details; but, there is a Servers node in the proxy.config file that suggests that one server may be able to proxy to more than one TFS URIs.__Microsoft MVP Visual Developer - C#

Is it possible to some how get the Team Explorer to support cross-server display of team projects?
It would be nice if you could have multiple root server nodes, saving me from clicking add existing project, selecting the new server, and having them listed.
I am currently working out of 2 TFS servers, it's annoying having to go in and switch servers in team explorer all the time.
Maybe I am doing something wrong?
