Hey Pablo,

Also check out my blog, I have done a similar move (based on MS guides),
with new machine names, new active directory domain etc.

That's correct. (Don't blame me, I'm just the messenger. Although I'd be
interested in MSFT's current thoughts around licensing)

See the TFS Licensing whitepaper

http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details.aspx?familyid=1FA86E00-F0A3-4290-9DA9-6E0378A3A3C5&displaylang=en

From a licensing FAQ:

Q2. How many TFS Server licenses I need when I've installed TFS in a dual
server deployment mode (AT and DT on different servers)?

You need one server license for every server where TFS is installed. So
you'll need TWO TFS server licenses for a dual server deployment. However,
you do not need extra CALs.

Although I've never done this move myself, (as you say) it is a supported
configuration.
For others wanting to do this, this document is the one you need:
http://msdn2.microsoft.com/en-us/library/ms404854.aspx

Some things to consider:

*
Remember that you need an additional TFS server license.
*
Try and keep the app-tier with the same name (see
http://msdn2.microsoft.com/en-us/library/ms404860(VS.80).aspx)
*
Third-last post on here might be useful: (
http://forums.microsoft.com/MSDN/ShowPost.aspx?PostID=311846&SiteID=1)

Best of luck. Let us know how you go.

We are about to migrate our TFS server from the single to the dual
configuration.

Are there any tips anybody can give me besides the steps that MS mentions
on MSDN?

Cheers
