Hi Justin, I reckon you guys would have the biggest TFS install in Australia - I'd be keen to know if anybody eles was doing this.
SP1 Issues SP1 *is* supported on a clustered data-tier. However you may have read that people had problems installing it. See: http://blogs.msdn.com/bharry/archive/2007/02/08/problems-installing-tfs-sp1.aspx The reason they had problems is because of the Quiescing Hotfix that is a pre-requisite to SP1 had problems. There is now an updated Quiescing GDR Fix that works. http://blogs.msdn.com/bharry/archive/2007/06/15/updated-quiescing-patch-released.aspx (For the full story see this comment on Brian Harry's blog: http://blogs.msdn.com/bharry/archive/2007/02/08/problems-installing-tfs-sp1.aspx#3311441) Upgrading from TFS2005 to TFS2008 (Orcas) You will be able to upgrade from TFS2005 (with and without SP1) to TFS2008. "You can either have VS2005 RTM or SP1 version." http://blogs.msdn.com/sudhir/archive/2007/05/31/upgrade-vs-2005-to-orcas.aspx For general reference: Clustering the data-tier: http://msdn2.microsoft.com/en-us/library/ms252505(VS.80).aspx TFS Installation Guide https://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details.aspx?familyid=E54BF6FF-026B-43A4-ADE4-A690388F310E&displaylang=en "User Accounts Required for Team Foundation Server Setup," "Checklist: Team Foundation Server Cluster Deployment," and "Install Team Foundation Server Databases on a Cluster". [SEC=UNCLASSIFIED] My organisation is planning to move from a single-instance data tier to a clustered tier over the weekend. I understand SP1 is not supported on a cluster, for us it seems more important to have fail-over at the moment. Will the migration to TFS2008 require TFS2005 SP1 first? Cheers, Justin. **************************************************************** IMPORTANT The information transmitted is for the use of the intended recipient only and may contain confidential and/or legally privileged material.
