We will be upgrading to TFS 2008 soon and I would like to find out if we also need to go with two tiers solution or stay with a single server.
Right now we have TFS 2005 installed on a single box along with SQL Server. The number of users is about 50. After the upgrade to 2008, the number of users will grow and will be around 100-150. I would like to go with two tiers solution because I believe it will be more robust and will handle the load better. Question #1: What do you think? How TFS is setup in your company? How many users it supports and how it is perform? In order to justify which setup to pick, I'd like to see how TFS is doing now and try to project what is going to happen when load will increase 3 times. I would like to setup some server's performance monitors and monitor how TFS is working. IT has already something in place, but I'm not sure what exactly it is. Question #2: What server performance counters should I setup in order to see how busy TFS server is? ( Something like %Processor Time, memory and etc.) So far the most useful information I've found on: http://msdn2.microsoft.com/en-us/library/bb668966.aspx: Any advises or information on this is really appreciated!
