Hi,
In our company, we also have a TFS2005, which is also a single box. About two months ago we installed a new server with TFS2008. Although for the moment we only have 2 projects on with 10 people, we already know that it will grow up fast during this year. So we have decided to make a server farm. One server for VSTS, one for TFS and one for the DB. This server farm is hosted on one very heavy server in 3 virtual server environments. About the counters, we are running for the moment also performance counters, but as I haven't setup this part I can't answer you about this. But it will interesting to hear this also from others, so that I can give the list to the responsible people to see if they need to add more counters or the remove some. Hopes this gives you an idea. Right now we have TFS 2005 installed on a single box along with SQL Server. The number of users is about 50. After the upgrade to 2008, the number of users will grow and will be around 100-150. I would like to go with two tiers solution because I believe it will be more robust and will handle the load better. Question #1: What do you think? How TFS is setup in your company? How many users it supports and how it is perform? In order to justify which setup to pick, I'd like to see how TFS is doing now and try to project what is going to happen when load will increase 3 times. I would like to setup some server's performance monitors and monitor how TFS is working. IT has already something in place, but I'm not sure what exactly it is. Question #2: What server performance counters should I setup in order to see how busy TFS server is? ( Something like %Processor Time, memory and etc...) So far the most useful information I've found on: http://msdn2.microsoft.com/en-us/library/bb668966.aspx: Any advises or information on this is really appreciated!
