There's two SP1 installers, one for TFS and one for Visual Studio (including
Visual Studio Team Suite).

To patch Team Explorer, you will need to install the TFS SP1. If you were
trying to install the VS2008 SP1 for a box that only has Team Explorer this is
why you would get the 'doesn't apply' error.

Not to derrail this, but just as a clarification to the last post -- I've never
had any luck SP1 if just Team Explorer is on the box. I've always had to have
one of the VSTS slices for the service pack to even install -- because it says
it doesn't apply. Is that working for you guys?

Hi,

If you run Team Explorer on the server (as tfsSetup) and browse to that project
does a red x appear at reports – If you don’t have TE on the server go ahead
and install it but make sure if you have SP1 applied to your server that you
apply SP1 for TE?

Have you verified the permissions at the Reporting Services, check the project
to make sure the permissions are set correctly:

http://[tfs]/Reports/Pages/Folder.aspx?SelectedTabId=PropertiesTab<thismessage:/UrlBlockedError.aspx>

Maybe you have some cached credentials on the client machine you are using for
your testing – under control panel user accounts check the Network Passwords
you have stored?

Are there any messages in the Event Logs at the server when this error occurs?

Wes

Hi Wes,

It actually shows up correctly:

Current value for ReportsUri = http://dtf467/Reports
Current value for ReportServerUri =
http://dtf467/ReportServer/ReportService.asmx

And yes, if I go to the project folder on the reporting server I do see the
reports for the project.

..i’ve also deleted the cache files on the TFS server where I’m testing this
from – still a no go..ggrrrr

Hi,

Everything looks correct, if you clicked on the project folder you would get a
list of the reports for the Team Project. At this point what I would do is use
tfsadminutil<http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/bb778396.aspx> to see what
the connections are set to:

C:\Program Files\Microsoft Visual Studio 2008 Team Foundation
Server\Tools\TFSAdminUtil ConfigureConnections /view

If they aren’t correct then set them properly, if they are correct try deleting
the contents of the Cache folder on the client computers:

Windows XP or Windows Server 2003
C:\Documents and Settings\UserName\Local Settings\Application
Data\Microsoft\Team Foundation\2.0\Cache

Windows Vista
C:\Users\UserName\Application Data\Local\Microsoft\Team Foundation\2.0\Cache

Subject: RE: [OzTFS] Team System Web Access - Reports tab issue

Hi Wes,

Thanks for responding – was starting to think I was alone with this problem in
the entire world (yes I know, that’s most likely not right but iv’e been unable
to find a solution).

When I browse to http://[server]/reportserver I get a directory view containing
the project folder and the TfsOlapReportDS and TfsReportDS data sources in it.

[cid:[email protected]]

The “red” area is the project name, which incidentially also contains the
department name which I can’t reveal.

Am I meant to get something else here?

A few ideas:

Is it possible the url is different (fully qualified) between your test in the
browser and Team Explorer. Also have you tried to browse the RS service
http://[server]/reportserver to see what response you get back from the server
itself? From the client you can try
http://[server]/reportserver?%2f[projectName]&rs:Command=ListChildren

Ah, I’m back to the original error now “Client found response content type of
‘’, but expected ‘text/xml’. The request failed with an empty response”.

Still out of ideas, no idea why it keeps doing this from within these two areas.

Subject: [OzTFS] Team System Web Access - Reports tab issue

Hi Guys,

I mentioned this earlier and was wondering if anybody’s come across this before
and have an idea on how to solve it.

In Team System Web Access, the Reports tab now issues a 404 error, whereas
before a restart Friday evening it was giving me an error like this:

“Client found response content type of '', but expected 'text/xml'. The request
failed with an empty response.”

>From within Team Explorer we’re now seeing a red X next to reports, yet the
>URL is correct. Eg. When I browse to that URI it brings up a list of reports
>for the team project.

I’ve looked into the tbl_service_integration table and the urls are correct
there as well.

Any ideas?
