I have to laugh...how do teachers expect to cover curriculum if the reading
material is not comprehended by all. The reading strategies are not hard to
incorporate into your daily instruction. If all teachers were using the same
strategies and talked the same language it really might make a difference.
These teachers need to get over this "fear of change" and help to make a
difference by getting out of their comfort zone a little.

Such heartening stories--our principal is calling for reading in teh
content areas, but I'm not sure he understands exactly what he
wants--and I know teacher resistance is high in about half the
faculty, who feel pressured to "cover" their curricula.  I've quoted
several of your posts on this thread to him.  To read that core
content teachers realize that they can improve student
achievement/learning through teaching common reading strategies was
inspiring.
