I would really like to be part of that discussion---I need it at this time of year.
>>> "Bill IVEY" <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> 1/19/2007 9:22 AM >>> Hi! This 20-page document is published by NCTE and available at: http://www.ncte.org/middle (it's the top link in the central column) I am always fascinated by the question of motivation, and the article mentions some comforting findings: that strategy instruction, choosing diverse texts, and self-selected reading are three of the best practices to increase motivation. I realize it can be hard to get a book discussion going mid-year on the list since we are all so busy. But I would be happy to join with interested people in a discussion of this article (which has about 12 pages of actual article, as opposed to title page, works cited, etc.) if anyone is interested. We could read it over the next week, and discuss it the following week. What do you think?
