Lois Lowry is a wonderful writer. We loved Number the Stars (historical fiction) and The Giver. She has a good author website we searched as a class in the computer lab. She even responded to me on her blog. The 6th graders loved that.
Among the Hidden was loved by my 7th graders this year. Many, many went on to read the other books in this series as it started them in that fine direction. I like to read books in a series to hook them.
