Ashli,
I have a 49 minute language arts period.  I will read 10-15 minutes every
couple of days.  I don't do any funky activites with a good read aloud, just
discussion and maybe a personal response, if they choose to.  I do a poem or
a mini-lesson on the other days.  I usually manage to get them about 20-25
minutes of independent reading or writing each day, depending on the day.
Right now I am reading The Watsons Go to Birmingham-1963, which is one I
forgot on the first list...
