Another excellent book on the subject is The Classroom of Choice: Giving Students What They Need and Getting What You Want by Jonathon C. Erwin.
It is about how much easier your job becomes when you meet students needs for power (over themselves/choice), fun, security, love, and belonging, and it gives you ways to meet these needs.
