Hi Alice, I haven't read the entire thing yet, but I think that though the actual lessons for teaching connections, for example, might be different, the general idea is the same. A lot of the new stuff is answering questions/troubleshooting problems that teachers who used the first edition had (and misinterpretations, etc.)
I would think you certainly could still join the discussion. You might even get to hear about some of the updates without purchasing the book.
