Here's what I did in a week / 6 week cycle: I divided up the novels into 6 sectons so that everyone would have a chance at all 6 of the 'jobs: Pictioner, Summarizer, Word Wizard, Connector, Passage Master and Discussion Director. Monday's asignment was to read the book. Wednesday in class they met in their job groups; all the Pictioners, the Word Wizards, etc and worked together. Fridays they got into their circles and shared their jobs with the Discussion Director leading the group and then doing a group evlauation on themselves. All assignments were collected and placed in the groupd's notebook. Along the way there were times to do whole class discussions, a writing assignment or two and a Book Test.
My concerns are doing this in a 50 minute class period when I have to also get in the anthology book, grammar, spelling / vocabulary. It's just the management of it that has me a bit anxious. Thanks for any help or ideas you can give me. ---- Mary Dovey <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> wrote: > I did Lit Circles many times in that time frame.
