I just try to model my classroom assessments/quizzes after the
various question formats of the state tests. I also model throughout
the year how to answer certain question types before we take tests
(such as what kind of answer is expected when you see words such as
identify, define, state, illustrate, compare, etc.. ). We also assess
our kids in 3rd grade, 5th grade, 8th grade, etc, and we have a state
mandated high school qualifying exam students start to take in 10th
grade. They must pass all sections to get a diploma. Puts a lot of
pressure on teachers!
