I am curious as to other's opinions on assessments.

I want to administer an assessment to help determine what levels of
vocabulary I should focus on (when we aren't into our Lit Circle books
where I can pull vocabulary they are reading). I already have Lexile
levels (reading comprehension that is pretty strongly vocabulary based,
but a pain to try and get into the computer lab to administer) and FCAT
(our state test) to refer to.

I was thinking that the Botel (sp?) would be a quick, down-n-dirty
addition to give me a basic level AND could maybe be used as a pre-test
& post-test? Any thoughts?

What would you use for a quarterly pre-test/post-test?

An education isn't how much you have committed to memory, or even how
much you know. It's being able to differentiate between what you do
know and what you don't.
Anatole France (1844 - 1924)
