Hi! My students are working on a unit on gender and intelligence, and did some work today on developing MI in our Humanities class and elsewhere in the school. It got me to thinking... what do you all do to integrate multiple intelligences into your classrooms?
For the record, they said that in our Humanities class, we develop MI's in these ways: Naturalist - reading (they said they had to be observing and classifying information while they read) Musical - through the skits we periodically do (i.e. a character from a book enrolls in our school) Logical - through the debate we had on a territorial dispute over the island Dokdo, or through learning about gender and intelligence Existential - unit work, talking through big ideas Interpersonal - working together, group skits Kinesthetic - working to set a world record for the world's longest duck-duck-goose game Verbal - discussions, independent reading and writing Intrapersonal - making suggestions, self-reflections Visual - skits, summer reading projects And they said MI's are developed elsewhere in our school in these ways: Naturalist - through science class Musical - through vocal and instrumental music classes Logical - through science and math classes Existential - through dorm life Interpersonal - having friends, social life, MOCA (Student government) Kinesthetic - after-school activities Verbal - through Exploring Language and ESL classes Intrapersonal - through advisory Visual - through art, theatre classes Take care, Bill Ivey Stoneleigh-Burnham School _______________________________________________ The Literacy Workshop ListServ http://www.literacyworkshop.org To unsubscribe or modify your membership please go to http://literacyworkshop.org/mailman/options/lit_literacyworkshop.org.
