Ian Falconer created Olivia the pig...by far one of my most favorite
of picture books of the past couple years. Inbedded in his first book, aptly
titled *Olivia*, are allusions and illustrations to great artists,
architeciture and other craftily placed icons. I will be using this as one
of my mentors texts as we explore the genre of picture books in my
classroom. I also love anything by Patricia Polacco such as the
incredible *Pink
and Say*. What are some of your favorites both old and new, and how do you
use them with your students?
