I am co-facilitating a professional development group based on Jim Moulton's "Any Century Learning." We looked at Church's "Bloom's Taxonomy for the Digital Age," that included new skills for today's learners and the resources at hand. This is an awesome resource.
http://www.scribd.com/doc/8000050/Blooms-Digital-Taxonomy-v212 We re-evaluated some of our current lessons that use "tried and true" strategies for learning and updated them to, (excuse the over-used term), 21st Century Standards. The idea was to keep the important elements of a lesson and incorporate or modify components to update for today's learner. My example. I love sharing Henry Wadsworth Longfellow to explore narrative poetry. "The Wreck of the Hesperus" is a chilling account of a sea captains voyage that included his young daughter. My kids read, recite and write, ( tried and true), additional stanza's from the daughter's point of view. Our new end product includes a Keynote of images paced to the poem complete with sounds and movement. The presentation includes their stanzas recorded in a podcast and incorporated into the Keynote. They use many time honored techniques as well as up to date technology. How have or could you update a lesson? Could you share your ideas? -- Tena _______________________________________________ The Literacy Workshop ListServ http://www.literacyworkshop.org To unsubscribe or modify your membership please go to http://literacyworkshop.org/mailman/options/lit_literacyworkshop.org.
