I am turning to my Lit Workshop friends again for help!

Last summer, I reorganized my small classroom library and spent the year
carefully cultivating, organizing, and getting books into the hands of my 8th
graders. I'm happy to report that my library has grown to over 600 books this
year, and I have kids in my classes who have never finished a book actually
READING.

I'm lucky to have a very open-mineded department head who allows me to have
Ellen Hopkins, Laurie Halse Anderson, PC Cast, Jodi Picoult, and other
controversial authors on my shelves. I have many books dealing with different
viewpoints of teen pregnancy, addictions, eating disorders, school shootings,
and other difficult situations that teens face every day. But I'm thinking
that I'm missing a certain kind of protagonist -- a teen female who has
specifically made the choice to stay a virgin.

I'm not a prude, nor do I believe in promoting a religious viewpoint. But I do
believe in providing a balanced perspective, and I'd love to add some novels to
my "gender issues" category that would show that this is a viable choice in
high school.

Any suggestions?
