Hi,
from a technical point of view, Little Snitch intercepts all network traffic which originates in user space processes and regular kernel modules. That covers all potential outside communication.

There's one exception, though: The kernel itself can circumvent Little Snitch. If Apple really wants to send out information and bypass Little Snitch, they can do it from the kernel. Currently they don't and I doubt that they will do it in the future because it would be rather bad for their reputation.

Sorry, but could someone answer Tom R's question?

I am interested as well as to wether or not LS will alert a user of attempts to communicate ANY information to Apple. I run a very secure (IMO) system, because I often have secure client data on my computer (which I also have to keep connected to the Internet), and I am LOATHE to think that anyone has access to any information no matter how banal or unimportant.

Hell, I don't even allow iTunes to connect to CDDB!

Thanks!

I just read the OS10.4 install license agreement. Unlike
for 10.3 it has wording saying it's ok for Apple to
collect info from your computer, apparently on an
on-going basis, for them to use pretty much as they like.
Apparently like even what brand of printer you use,
what all applications you have installed, etc.

Probably because the new BIOS and the chip itself are part of the
'trusted computing' platform. See

Best hang on to your old macs as long as you can, and enjoy the luxury
of owning your computer while it lasts.
