We've noticed that the fridge runs about 95% of the time, and don't see why.

Gene,
Given your boats age I suggest that you take stock of the refrig.'s ventilation 
or more than likely the LACK THEREOF.
A will assume that there is one 5x9 inch vent on the backside to the outside 
wall  !! :-)

Add 3 more of at least the same size and a 12 muffin exhaust fan. You have got 
to remove the ambient heat from the coils.

I have a 12v and a120v exhaust fan AND a 12v fan that blows across the coils. 
Of course the 120v fan only runs when the gen set is on or on shrorepower.

Just my experience.
