All,

I was stunned and saddened to see Gene Gruender's flaming message after so
many well-written and informative reports from him.

But I must state I strongly disagree with limiting discussion about any
subjects that involve us and our lifestyle, even though there are widely
divergent opinions presented.

The question of whether or not to carry weapons to defend our vessel and
the people on it is one most of us have pondered when considering the
dangers of voyaging and therefore a valid topic of discussion on this list.
Since the subject draws so much comment, it is obvious that the question
has no clear-cut answer. Some believe it is irresponsible to carry
weapons, while some believe it is irresponsible not to. It is exactly
these inconclusive questions that debates amongst the people that are most
concerned (that would be us) are designed to address.

Politics, as it applies to our lifestyle, includes many pertinent actions,
most notably anchoring rights these days, and it therefore also a valid
topic of discussion on this list when it involves us.

I am looking forward to a wiki to go along with this list so we can record
the benefits of our collective experiences for all to use.

The guns discussion is much like starting a conversation with your wife
about seeing other women. Best to avoid the subject, it just comes to no
good.
