We have them down in the swamps and ICW in Louisiana as well.
See my web site, click on PICTURES OF CCRIDER for one that was ON my 
dock ( twice). The nuisance alligator hunter for the parish shot it from 
the bow of my boat. That is a big one! Interesting, as the hunter was 
setting up his shot a boat came by and I thought the gator would take 
off. Nope, as the man said," he is so big that he thinks he owns the 
river". It dove as the boat approached and then came back up in exactly 
the same place. Big mistake!!!!
