King Dome does make units for RVs and 18-wheelers but they make a boat
unit too. They tell me the additional cost is for more moisture proofing.
Mine was about $2500 and the RV version was about $1800 if I recall right.

We did have some problems at first but eventually we got everything
working OK.

The biggest pain is, for some unfathomable reason, Direct TV will not let
you see local channels if they find out that the rig is on a boat. I have
no idea why. I would think the local advertisers would like to have us see
the local commercials. Give them a land address when you set up. If you go
travelling tell them you are visiting relatives and have set up the dish at
their house.

The FCC has demanded they supply the major networks to commercial trucks,
and RVs who do not get good over-the-air reception at their Home Base, by
giving them feeds from NY, Chicago, or LA. But boats were not mentioned in
the FCC directive so we get screwed.

It would be an easy thing, simply typing a zip code onto a computer
screen, to have any local feed available, but why Direct TV has chosen to
give us cruisers the shaft is completely mystifying.

    HI Norm,

I have Follow me TV and am not real happy with it., it looses signal
when we swing hard on anchor. You mentioned Kind Dome, that's the RV model
your using, and it is good when swinging at anchor?

    See you on the Waterways!
