Might be OK. The frequencies used by Digital TV and 'old' analog TV are the
same, so the basic antennas are the same (I am still using rabbit ears and a
bow-tie UHF with my converter boxes).

However, Digital tends to be more susceptible to poorer signal strength. Where
as the old Analog TV would still show a picture, just a poorer and poorer one
until it was all but snow, with Digital once the signal gets below a certain
strength, it just stops working. All or None.

So, try your existing antenna. It might be OK. But ifyou do have low signal
strength you might have a few channels that will not be receivable. Then you
need to look at perhaps an amplifier or other solution.

Note also: When the old Analog channels get allocated next Feb, some of the
current 'digital TV stations' will move to a different frequency. So, what is
working (or not working) today might change next Feb as some of the stations
make their final shift.

I built a TV antenna some time ago for about $12 plus the lead-in wire out of
1" X 1/8 aluminum strip with two pieces about 3' long in a circle insulated
from each other and connected to the TV twinlead. I hoist it up the mast and
get great reception. Does any one know if that antenna will still work when
they broadcast only in digital?

Pinnacle.com has an HDTV stick. I used it for a few months while in St.
Augustine and was amazed by the HD picture quality. Antenna height is
everything.

Subject: [Liveaboard] hd tv or antenna?

Some time ago someone on the list referred to a HD tv device for laptop.
I just got a 19" LCD TV-DVD (DAENYX 120-240 AC-12 VDC) combo from Wal-Mart
this past weekend. I am looking for advice on antennas or any thing that my
son can watch his channels.
Any help much appreciated.
