What kind of wood?  Teak?  If so, nothing will stay on it very well.  Almost
anything else....there is a urethane product for floors that will work well.
I think it is called Varathane Floor Finish.  Home Depot. Lowes, etc.

Having said that, get a piece of skateboard traction paper from Sport
Authority.  It is self sticking.  It comes in clear and has a sand finish
top.  That will give you traction and will protect against wear after you
finish it. There is a marine product for non-skid that has a land based
equivalent that will work, too.  It comes in grey and black.  I have not
seen clear.
