This month we're having a lot of trouble with the generator through-hull, almost daily.
I'm in an anchorage that clogs the generator through-hull too frequently... The problem is eel-grass and kelp, clogging the hole at the hull. The stuff doesn't even reach the raw-water strainer! I'm anchored in 65 feet, so we're not shallow. This is dead stuff drifting our way. The solution so far is to disconnect the hoses, open the through-hull valve, and shove a coat-hanger down there vigorously. So far my schemes for solving this are 1) Plumb a back-flush. I have a spare pump A/C pump I can use (from a disused air-conditioner) and could rig some hoses and valves to pump water back through that through-hull.. Probably a lot of work and not practical, but hey I'm frustrated. 2) Wait for the next haul-out, and put some sort of screen over the through-hull to discourage weed from blocking it. 3) Move to a different anchorage. I really have to be here another 2 weeks though. Any better ideas for the short-term?? -Neal. _______________________________________________ Liveaboard mailing list [email protected] To adjust your membership settings over the web http://www.liveaboardnow.org/mailman/listinfo/liveaboard To subscribe send an email to [EMAIL PROTECTED] To unsubscribe send an email to [EMAIL PROTECTED] The archives are at http://www.liveaboardnow.org/pipermail/liveaboard/ To search the archives http://www.mail-archive.com/[email protected] The Mailman Users Guide can be found here http://www.gnu.org/software/mailman/mailman-member/index.html
