Hi All, I finally got my boat back from the boat yard here in Ft. Pierce. Just in time for all these bloody storms. I'm currently in Harbortown Marina. I'm in a north to south slip next to a rip rap breakwater with mangroves on top of it. If the surge is greater than 5 feet I'll be beam to waves breaking through the mangroves 50 feet away in a west wind. I've got the boat trussed into this slip tighter than a pair of Nike sneakers but I'm not happy. I can't get a slip I like better and getting the boat hauled and blocked isn't really an option either. Besides, they're sticking boats cheek and jowl in a large sand lot which make me uncomfortable anyways. If one goes. . .
What I'm contemplating is attaching my 65' Bruce anchor to my 65' CQR anchor and attaching them to 200' of chain snubbed by two pieces of 3/4" nylon in the middle of the anchorage. Going up a creek or into the mangroves isn't really an option as we're 70' tall and seven feet deep. It's a little late to run away and I wouldn't know where to go. Is this a crazy idea? Should I just add more lines to the dock and pray. This is the first time I've had to deal with this.
