We also have a Paragon transmission, since the motor is in the boat 
backwards, it is really easy to work on. Unfortunately the water pump, belts 
etc. are a different story since they are under the cockpit floor. It is 
very easy to adjust the Paragon but since you cannot see into there I would 
not recommend it. I once dropped a bolt in there among all the gears and 
even with good access it was difficult to remove. Neutral is a very fickle 
thing, unless the lever is in the perfect position the shaft will slowly 
turn but it is not a problem unless there's a anchor line close by to get 
wrapped around it. (don't ask how I found that out)  We don't have a true 
reverse, you have to hold the lever down to stay in reverse otherwise it 
goes into neutral.
