Preparing to make the run across the Okeechobee Waterway. Looking for info on the trip, places to see, places to spend the night, etc. There are lots of inexpensive places to stay, relatively anyway. We always stop at Legacy Marina, Ft. Myers. They are NOT inexpensive, but they are worth the visit. Close to bars, a new Publix, restaurants, and downtown. then we spend a nite or so at Franklin Lock, $22 a nite, $12 if your a senior, with Electric, water, laundry, nice RV park setting, and you can fish in fresh or saltwater, depending on the side of the dam you fish. There are 8 docks, 4 are first come basis, on the north east side of the dam, in the cove. You could also anchor in the cove and dingy to shore, they are dog friendly. LeBelle has FREE city docks with water and 15 amp electric. Walk able to supplies and shopping. Across the river from Labelle is the River Motel, 50 cents a foot. Moorhaven has a city dock and a private dock, both at a dollar ft. Clewiston, not cheap, but another must stop for us. Little man , the dock master, knows his stuff, trust him. They have a loaner limousine for trips to wall mart, a tiki bar and deli, and res truants in the area. Clewiston inn is great food for cheap. The rim route is closed from debris. Can't recommend stopping a pahokee. Indian Town was $1.25 when we went thru. It's a storage boat yard, with small ships store. One restaurant in town, that's it for the town. ST Lucie locks has the same dockage setup as Franklin locks. No shopping or supplies, but close enough to an enterprise car rental. It's my favorite Florida Trip, enjoy! See you on the Waterway Capt.
