Right......so you are the culprit Bella ;o) I must admit that with all due respect, I disagree with you on MANY points. As an American you support YOUR troops, I can understand that, but what if one does NOT support that war, is it a good idea to write that in a signature line. What if, ones political standpoint is with the enemy of America. I am not say I personally feel that way, as I do not, but what if, we are sailors not lobbyists for various political views. Is it political correctness to insist that we All keep our political views to ourselves? I do not think so. I bet you I could find many quotes that would be offensive to you, I could advocate anything from war on America to Religious views opposing yours, sexual observances different from yours and moral and ethical issues in conflict with yours, is that really a good idea?
How about this one for a sigline: "A mysterious change seems to come over Americans when they go to a foreign land. They isolate themselves socially. They live pretentiously. They're loud and ostentatious. Perhaps they're frightened and defensive, or maybe they're not properly trained and make mistakes out of ignorance." Eugene Burdick Then for good measure I could add this http://www.talesmag.com/tales/practical/ugly_american.shtml ..........and ask all you Americans to read what is on this site. Interesting reading for all those who will be going cruising outside USA. My view is that we should stick to sailing and all sailing related issues.
