Lee, SOLAS is above and beyond USCG regs unless you are a commercial vessel, in which case you will require SOLAS. Type IV CG approved are all that the CG require if you are not commercial, for hire, charter, etc. and in the US, a foreign vessel will not be approved for charter. The child will have to have a proper sized (child's) vest. Remember that if you will try to sell the boat in the US in the future you should wire for 120volt instead of 250 volt or wire for both at the same time. **************New year...new news.
