A couple of friends have told me they put chlorine tablets in the water intake strainer for the reverse cycle ac unit to prevent fouling with algae or slime. I have had growth in the strainer during warm weather here in North Carolina brackish water. However the corrosive nature of chlorine is a little scary.
Is this a common practice? Do any of you use this preventive measure?
