I don't know that they're imported to the US any longer, but we have a
4 burner Broadwater stove from New Zealand that we got ~6 years ago
and love. The continuous grate on top is dense enough that we don't
worry about tipping pots, and it has am oven with a working
thermostat, as well as a very good broiler. Plus, four burners. I've
never really understood the point of three burner stoves.

Interesting... IF the grate wer not recessed would it be
acceptable? I had a single burner butane stove that was quite
acceptable temp and cooking wise, but the way the 'grate't was it
would not accept a smallish pot without it falling over since the
legs of the grate were so far apart. I fixed that by putting a
grate over the box it was in that was from a camping store couple
of pad eyes on the back and I slipped the grate back 'piece' into
the pad eye (really small ones) and the front piece was bent down to
slip into a pair in the front to hold it on. Worked like a charm for
my small pots and the larger souppout I used like a crockpot. I
only used that method at anchor or the slip. cooking underway was
smaller pots and used the recess to keep everying where it belongs
on the stove and not my cabin sole.
I have an alcohol stove with oven on my Oday 30 and will replace it
asap the final sale paperwork is done. I am not sure I will be
using the oven much. I have not had a house so to speak in 4.5 yrs
with an oven and I have learned to do without since i don't eat
bread much. The oven, for me, makes a nifty pot storage. <GG>

Propane. I've been a fan of propane for over 40 years.

propane or alcohol? propane puts out more heat than alcohol.

We have a Force 10, 2 burner stove(no oven, don't really need one).
We are dissatisfied. First of all, it doesn't put out enough heat.
Secondly, the grate upon which the cooking vessels sit is recessed
so that it is not possible to center a large pot or skillet over the
burners. Does anyone have other stoves to recommend?
