I would not limit that to China. The business of ANY incorporated
business is maximum profit. Only the combined pressures of an effective
market place, and a governing body prevents abuse of the consumer. 

Milk in this country was adulterated before legislation stopped the
practice. Likewise patent medicines and what else I do not know.

At least in China the perps are executed or jailed when their excesses
hurt the economy, unlike the US where they are handsomely rewarded.

Caveat Emptor, the world around.

That includes boat manufacturers too! (Boat builders are generally OK)
