Yes, I did misunderstand your "balance" message and now thoroughly agree with
you.
As for the bimini, I have always liked the idea of making a sturdy bimini frame
then covering it with PV panels instead of canvas.
I do need to add that we rarely use our genset these days. 90% of the time our
1300 Watts of PV panels do keep up. When we had only 840 watts we had to run
the genset about every three days.
Bear in mind that even with the noonday sun we get a lot less than 1300 watts
from our array.
The rule of thumb is that you get half the rated output on average from sunrise
to sunset.
