It's for exactly that reason that our davits are so high. During design, I 
wanted to be sure to have an unobstructed view from a seated (relatively 
elevated) position at the helm.

Our prior davits (VERY expensive all SS, over 6K new) held the dink exactly 
in our line of view, which is what prompted our decision for the elevation 
(admittedly odd looking) for the dink.  Secondary benefit is that it will 
have to be a VERY impressive boarding wave to get it :{))
