After looking at the various websites (NOAA, NWS, NHC, etc.) I decided
Thursday that I wouldn't have to head out to Oyster Bay right away to strip
sails, dodger, bimini, etc. So this morning (about 7/a) I checked all the
sites again and decided it would probably be prudent to go to the boat and
at least "spiral wrap" the jib with the spinnaker halyard and the bimini. So
the bottom line is I got out there about 12:30 today - a gentle breeze,
sunny/cloudy/sunny, no rain - and did just that. The bottom line is that we
completely dodged the bullet and even the spiral wrap on the jib and bimini
wasn't necessary.

Actually, at least in the western part of the Long Island Sound (Oyster Bay,
Stamford, etc...) we're supposed to see more wind tomorrow (15-20 with gusts
to 30) then we actually experience today. Since the Admiral prefers to sail
on a "level" boat we're not even planning on heading out until Sunday
morning! On the other hand, if it were up to me, and I could grab a couple
of sailors as crew, I'd have absolutely no problem with heading out tomorrow
with one or two reefs in and going for it! It could be awesome.....
