Norm and Jan,
We are so sorry to hear about David's foot. It sure sounds like the
doctors have tried about everything to save the foot for him!
This had to be a hard decision for all and it sounds like the right one
now to give David his life back. We will keep David in our prayers for
this infection to cease and this leg to heal quickly post-op.

the long delay & multiple infections. He can not believe the
difference it has made in his life. He is doing incredibly well &
wishes it had been done much sooner. I hope this story, helps you
thru this tough time.

Ahoy Paul,
Thank you very much for your concern. A support group would be
wonderful. How can I find out if there is one in the Biloxi
Mississippi area?

I wish him the best. His situation is exactly the same as
mine. My surgery is scheduled for just about the same time.
I've been fighting the problem for almost a year and it's time
to solve the problem and move on, as drastic as that sounds.
The risk of infection (especially the MRSA, I'm fighting) is
life threatening. There are many support groups to help him
though this time, I volunteer in one.
Take care!

Subject: [Liveaboard] Jan's son David
For those who are interested.
Jan's son David has lost his fierce fight to save his! foot.
Damaged in a
motorcycle accident, it was broken into three pieces. After
months of
intense pain involving multiple bone and flesh surgeries, a
record number
of hyperbaric treatments, painful skin grafts, PIC lines, and
almost daily
medical appointments an intractable infection has set into his
bones and is
moving up his tibia. His foot will be removed mid-calf on May
9th.
Jan and I wish to thank everyone who have expressed concern
for his
well-being.
