My apologies Herr Kapitan Eric, I missed your message, I will write to both Jerry and yourself as soon as I get back from work this evening. Cheers Ahmet
NOTE : There is no power generation involved. No Sterling engines etc. A very efficient DC/DC power converter (after a bulk charge with the engine or Honda 2000) takes the energy from one battery bank and slowly tops up the other house bank. Next day the process is repeated topping off or equilizing the other house bank. The converter has to be very efficient so as to not waste the precious energy. Slow charging of lead acid batteries is a "very" efficient process to begin with. (If the converter is efficient) I am building the cheap version for Jerry that after a bulk charge the user goes to his battery switch (ie: Guest or Perko dual switch) and flips to either #1 bank or #2 bank. The bank that is left open gets topped off or eqilized based on the settings factory adjusted or user trimmed. User flips the dual switch back to "both" position after eight or so hours when the device indicates the batteries are topped-off or eqilized. The automatic version gets the computer to do all the switching etc automatically but costs more. (I should partner with Andina and integrate this function into his combiners.. maybe) Simple eh? Except it takes a lot of experience to build the efiicient converter. I wish more people were interested in maintaining their batteries. And now.... I have to go to work and countdown the days to retirement. > From: [email protected] > To: [email protected] > Date: Sun, 1 May 2011 12:08:54 -0700 > Subject: Re: [Liveaboard] AGM battery question ($300 Question) > > I posted yesterday that I was interested! > > Eric Thompson > Sunnyvale, California > [email protected] > > ----- Original Message ----- > From: "ahmet erkan" <[email protected]> > To: <[email protected]> > Sent: Sunday, May 01, 2011 9:39 AM > Subject: Re: [Liveaboard] AGM battery question ($300 Question) > > > > Hi Jerry, > Since you and I are evidently the only persons interested, I will write to > you privately. > The others either figured out their own solutions or do not consider > undercharging as a problem. > However, right now, I am taking my wife out to Glosta for our 31st wedding > anniversary dinner. > Will write to you and explain the idea tomorrow night. > Thanks > Ahmet > > > > From: [email protected] > To: [email protected] > Date: Sun, 1 May 2011 10:31:50 -0400 > Subject: Re: [Liveaboard] AGM battery question ($300 Question) > > > > > > > Ahmet, > > The simple answer to your question below is ….
