Heh. Didn't see your post before I sent mine... You're welcome. And, for those into hacking, explore the unique qualities of the Alfa system (big evil grin)... Also, though you may have dug further than I, I get the impression that they're powering the unit with 5V, and all the data happens at the box. (One of my chief gripes about USB units is as you described WRT cabling.) You could do as I did, to power my 4x USB box and my Vonage base unit, and get an inexpensive 5V PS, which would not require your computer to be on to run; it runs on standard boat power. My computer switch board has separate switches for 5V (don't have it on out of Vonage range or when I'm not going to be using several of my HDs simultaneously), WiFi (router and WiFi - both boat house power tolerant), and my 5 separate HDs (powered from the filtered 12V output Bob built into my computer). When I find a 12V monitor I'm happy with (haven't yet), one of the 4 spare switches will do that. All are powered from a single house power buss...
